For this project we are going to be receiving help from one of the great paper engineers Richard Sweeney
Thus design fascinates me as it seems the design has been created with a single shape that has been repeated many time to form a rough spherical shape. I believe this form of paper modeling is called modular design

really like the form of this design, its very natural looking, the curves in the design are gradual so the shapes changes from being quite wide at the top to thin at the top

i find this design fascinating, the harsh twisting form of the design is very intriguing as it makes it hard to believe this was created just using sheets of paper, i especially love the tiling effect all around the object. It adds to the 3D natural of the design and further implies the spiral form it has
Richard's practice combines the disciplines of design, Photography, craft and sculpture, resulting in a varied output of work including graphic design and public sculpture commissions.
Looking at a selection of Sweeney's work i noted that many of his pieces have a symmetrical quality to them. Also that a vast majority of the designs have been made with just one sheet of paper which has been folded into shape.
